Just when you think that management is serious about "turning this ship around" I hear a very strong runour from a very reliable source that Mav is
staying around for one more year. Isn't that just great!! They are going to lose whatever momentum they built up over the last month of the season and
probably cost themselves about 150 seasons tickets.

this is very sad indeed, if it is true
I have also heard that the parents of 6 players have indicated that if Mav is behind the bench next season their sons will not be reporting to training camp in late summer this includes 3 players that will be 3rd year players, 2 second year players and one that was drafted in 2007 but did not make the cut at training camp Springer, wake up and make this team something and stop being the weasel that most people think you are |

I would think that you would have to consider the 3 third year players as key because there are not that many and it would have to include at least one of the
stars, Moon or Brittain and we only have 2 rookies in the line up unless they are including the trades.
Add to this the fact that a lot of top talent will not therefore report and that ticket prices for season tickets will increase. 150 lost may be optimistic.

Honestly, why should Springer change Mavety? If fans had stayed away from the K-Rock Center, then his hand might have been forced. But the attendance was
always above 4000, so why should he get rid of Mavety, and bring in someone who actually costs him money?
This is a broken record, but it's the truth: things will not change so long as Doug Springer is the owner of this franchise. It simply won't, because he won't do the necessary things to make it a successful franchise. Unless he's basically forced to fire Mavety, due to low attendance or actual public outcry (posts on here don't exactly affect him), nothing will change. As long as he's getting 4000+ per game, nothing will change. So fans have to decide whether they want to boycott the games, or "support the kids" and in effect supporting Springer. You can't have it both ways. Either you support the kids and are fine with Mavety being the coach/GM for life, or you put your foot down and say enough is enough. You can't pick both. |

Coaching position | ||

On a related note, I see Brian Sutter resigned as coach of Red Deer after one season behind the bench,after missing the playoffs this year.There you have a
coach who has a concept of what is acceptable and what is not. On the other hand, we have had the desperate misfortune to be saddled with a coach and owner for
whom the meaning of success is based on the fact the franchise is now worth twice or more what was paid for it 11 or 12 years ago. Mavety and Springer
can't possibly have an ounce of pride in the franchise, otherwise they would not have allowed this debacle to have continued for so long.
Clue is right,this is an ownership that pays lip service to striving for success, and perhaps in a vague way even would like to be a successful franchise, but is simply unable and unwilling to do what is necessary to make this franchise one that we can all take pride in. If Mavety is brought back for another stint, in my eyes that will be the ultimate insult to the long-suffering fans of Kingston and shows that regardless of that tripe that Springer spouted in his mid season interview with Bill Hutchins, he is simply pulling the wool over the fans' eyes with his statement that he would do "whatever it takes" to make this franchise a successful one. Mav's been back here how long?.. and what do we have to show for it? Bear in mind that in that in this league only two teams in each conference don't make the playoffs and yet in Mav and Springer's reign of futility we have managed to be a bottom feeder for virtually half of that time.And, the odd occasion when we do manage to see the post-season we're gone with barely a murmur.Sorry, this franchise is destined for nothing but more of the same, so long as these turkeys continue to run the show, so fans the only way you can do anything about it is by letting your wallets do your talking. |

Again for me | ||
|
Again I'll state this for me, as this pertains to myself and my wife only. Thankfully we live in a free society that has given us choices.
I go to the Frontenac games for many varied reasons and I know I probably have missed some A) to watch great young hockey players from all over not just the players that play for the Frontenacs. B) It is a social event, a night out in the winter, I have met some wonderful people at these games and continue a relationship with them there. C) I continue to meet great fans from other OHL cities. D) I like talking to the players, these are fantastic people, I have also met some of their parents who are equally fantastic as they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I go to support them. E) On a personal level the Frontenac organization has always treated me first class, they have never shown signs that they didn't give a rats ass about me, and I must say I am grateful for what they did for me down at the new rink (which will remain between the Fronts and myself) F) I get a whole season of bitching about GM/Coaching, which player doesn't come here, the trades etc, all the things an arm chair quarterback loves. G) For the starting price of $816 for 2 tickets of where I want to sit is pretty cheap entertainment over the course of 7 months. Starting as I have spent more money in the new arena on goodies then the last 10 years at the old barn, damn beer and Spudniks. Plus all of the other things above. H) I get to show of my higher education of graduating out of 2 and only after 6 attempts by bullet listing the things I wanted to say in alhi ....ah.... alpho.......in order of Alphabets. Yes I agree it is time for a change, but I am not prepared to just say screw the whole deal because of something that is beyond my control. However I do understand and respect those that choose not to return, regardless if it is ownership decisions, the new facility, value for ones dollar or what ever reason. That decision is theirs to make freely without me or others being judgmental on it.

That's fine DB, but I chose to cancel my season ticket and will not attend any games as long as the Springers are the owners of the team. I believe that is
the only way you can create change, if you are unwilling to do same I question your constant criticism of Mav and other management related problems with the
franchise, it's like people who never vote but complain about their MP and Prime Minister.

MisterDB, don't get me wrong. I'm not begrudging the fact you -- and others like you -- still go to games. As you said, it's your choice. I was
simply pointing out that, in all likelihood, you (the collective "you") can't have it both ways. There's really only two options: go to
games, and risk having Springer keep Mavety around because attendance is great anyway, or boycott, and force Springer to change his mindset.

Hacker, it is the other way around, if you don't vote then you shouldn't criticize so if you extrapolate that if you don't go to the games you
shouldn't Cristie. So because I go and I might add this will be my 40th year supporting hockey in this city starting from the Aces, I'm not allowed to
Cristie management. We have a good time at the rink, all I require is for the kids to work hard and give the effort. Winning is not the be all or end all for
us. Sure it nice to win but I am big believer in the old adage it's not whether you win or loose but how you play the game. The wins will come naturally
(with of course some talent thrown in the mix which includes coaching etc) if the effort is there.
The water has been lowered,rocks are visible now, the newness of the new arena will wear off, so there is much pressure on Springer to put a product on the ice the ball is in his court. Clue, having said that I really don't know what kind of effect fans staying away would have on Springer (besides political pressure). He isn't the one that requires 3700 fans per game to break even, that is the city's target. He gets more revenue from much more then the fan base at the new arena. And I am just going to point out that anything you have heard so far regarding Mav/coaching/GM one way or another is just a rumor, so far there is no confirmed commitment to anybody Springer.

you refer to two players as stars do you go to the games and really watch ? don't just believe what they want you to believe how much did emmerton help brampton against barrie ? kingston would have beat barrie the future of this team includes your "stars" if at least one of them changes their mindset and attitude 100 % the real stars of the team are some of the other players that simply play great each and every game with or without the glory and hype and opportunity the scouts know who they are and you will know too in june 08.........stay tuned.......... |

And I thought no one read my rants. LOL
FAN 65 what I was referring to was the previous post that said 6 parents I believe said that their kids would not be coming back if Mav was around. While I agree that there are a lot of players on this team that play hard THE NHL has deemed that there are players that are a level above others on this team in the fact that they have listed them on the Draft list higher. That was where I got those names from also there are not that many returning players that will be 3rd year players that are not needed this year coming. As far as your comment about we could have beaten Barrie in the playoffs I will leave that as IYO. To me it is not a fair statement because as the leafs have shown you can play really well if there is nothing on the line and in My Personal Opinion by the time this team finally started to gel they were already getting the fork MisterDB and GAC as someone who has voiced his opinion by not showing up I can understand both sides of the argument. As MisterDb is aware I also had to look at the same things as he did as my main reason for going to games were in order or priority: 1. Socailize I have met a great deal of great peopel and had a lot of fun chatting and visiting with them on game nights. 2. Socail and evening out where I can forget about the real world. 3. A chance to exercise my lungs and expand my breathing adn vocal capacity. 4. Cheer for the 67's and most seasons raz the Front players for lack of dedication . 5. Love of GOOD Junior Hockey 6 DA FRIES DA FRIES DA FRIES. Why did I leave, partly due to life, The firing of Cassidy ( I still think given the support of management the team with him behind the bench would have been better. Before you jump me ask this How did Mav do with Guy as his starting tender???) the impending price increase. BUT mostly because Fronts hockey to me became second rate entertainment.
