The production from the D is down, what is more disturbing is that this is a better overall talented D that we have had over this time frame.

The has been talk from watching other OHL broadcasts of the Fronts that the Fronts D mobility isn't what it should be. It is almost as if there is a disconnet between the forwardds and the D.

So here are the numbers in percentage. Goals Assists and overall point % of the overall teams output in each catagory

MisterDB I think the number one problem is the PP. Gilmour has chosen the 1 defenceman system on the PP. It is rare to see anyone on the D get any ice other than Captain Lashoff. Michael Fine has taken over the left side replacing a defenceman. Not sure what % of points come from the PP but it has to be high. If we had 2 D out there would the output from these defenceman double?

Agree the PP plays a big role and I think it is a whole evil entity into itself that has effectivly probably been one of the the big reasons for their current record.

I like the idea of Fine back there, besides he has shown when called upon - namely covering the increasing number of Lashoffs gaffes that he is an able defender as well. I'd be curious where we sit with the number of shorthanded goals allowed. When he went to the AHL last season Lashoff was taught to play his game and not everyone elses. He did it quite well from what you hear. He needs to get back to that.

It's not an issue of talent. I think there is plenty of it. Problems with special teams usually point to an issue with coaching and you can see by the way they do everything else that is where the problem lies. I'm disappointed with Gilmour and this teams motivation lately.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with Lashoff's play. He has become more offensive and I'm sure this is from his time in the AHL. Every team needs at least one D that can carry the puck. I believe Fine will move from the point on the PP when Eric gets back.

As for the coaching, this team needs an experienced OHL coach. I know Dougie's a hometown boy and was a great player but this was a PR stunt that went bad. He needed to gain experience somewhere or no pro team would look at him. Mav gave him his shot and hoped this would also increase attendance. I doubt attendance has gone up from last year. He's one year closer to jumping ship to the AHL or ECHL and we are still playing sub .500 hockey in a very very weak eastern conference. Thankfully Ottawa, Oshawa and the Bulls are all rebuilding or we would be even farther back.

At the end of the day, our PP is the least of our worries.

Maybe we should bring in Patrick Roy to coach/assist...
